In Your Words

"I have never regretted moving here.  The people are just wonderful."

Residential Communities

Q: What is “independent living?”
A: Independent living is designed for active, healthy people who are capable of managing their own lives and making their own health care and financial decisions. Brentmoor communities offer a variety of options for those who desire independent living. The monthly rental fee includes your apartment home and the community’s services. Residents independently select their own health care providers and services.

Q: How can residents provide for their futures and remain financially independent?
A: Brentmoor communities do not require entry fees or an investment of life savings. Brentmoor’s rates are an affordable way to maintain or upgrade your lifestyle.

Q: Are health services available?
A: Brentmoor communities offer a wellness program and a variety of activities that promote physical and mental health. Menus at our Carriage Club dining facilities are designed to offer nutritional, well-balanced meals.

Q: What distinguishes Brentmoor communities from other apartment communities?
A: Brentmoor communities offer a combination of privacy, safety, security and companionship in an environment where quality service and comfort are the priority. Depending upon their interests, our residents may take advantage of and participate in the many amenities and activities geared toward active retirement living.

Q: What does it cost to live in a Brentmoor rental community?
A: Residents pay a security deposit prior to moving in. The monthly rental fee varies based on the size of the apartment home, the location of the community and the amenities included in the monthly fee.

Q: What types of apartments are available?
A: Brentmoor communities offer private apartments in a variety of sizes to suit your needs. Each apartment has one or more baths, a full kitchen, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, wall-to-wall carpeting and window coverings. Our specially designed bathrooms are equipped with emergency alert systems that offer the security of immediate emergency assistance when it’s needed. Residents are welcome to decorate their apartments according to their individual preferences.

Q: Are there common areas and facilities available for residents and their guests?
A: Our senior living communities have meeting rooms, libraries, lounges, Carriage Club dining, computer labs, health clubs and laundry facilities available for resident use.

Q: Are meals included?
A: Residents and guests may enjoy meals at Brentmoor’s Carriage Club each day. Our trained chefs provide creative menus with appealing selections and appetizing presentations. Each Brentmoor community offers a variety of meal plans. Please consult with the Brentmoor manager for specific details. Our independent living apartments have a full kitchen allowing residents to prepare meals as desired.

Q: How does a Brentmoor community help ensure the safety of its residents?
A: We maintain a private, secure environment for our residents. Access to the building is limited to residents and visitors (at the resident’s discretion). Our outside tele-entry system allows residents to provide remote entry for visitors while maintaining the security of the building.

Q: Is transportation available or do residents need a car?
A: Our communities have scheduled transportation for residents to shopping areas, grocery stores, places of worship and local places of interest.

Q: What activities and services are available?
A: Brentmoor communities provide an extensive, well-planned schedule of activities designed to appeal to residents with varied interests. Our staff is creative and imaginative in planning programs both within the community and at local facilities. Residents have the opportunity to attend social and cultural events, arts and crafts classes, continuing education programs, exercise and sports programs, and clubs.

Assisted Living

Q: What happens if a resident no longer can live independently?
A: With our expertise in retirement living, the staff at each Brentmoor community has the experience necessary to help residents and their family members in making arrangements for the necessary assistance in daily living.

Q: What is assisted living?
A: Assisted living is a program that provides residents assistance with daily living. These services include assistance with medications, bathing, dressing, meals, and other personal activities.

Q: When is assisted living appropriate?
A: Assisted living is appropriate when a senior is having difficulty preparing balanced meals, maintaining his or her household, or remembering to take medications. These individuals can maintain much of their independence and dignity if supportive services are provided.

Q: What kinds of services are provided by assisted living?
A: We encourage our residents to maintain as much independence as possible. However, in The Court Assisted Living, we provide assistance with dressing, bathing and personal hygiene. We can administer medications and monitor blood pressure, pulse rate and weight regularly to ensure optimum health. We serve three nutritious meals daily in our dining room. Housekeeping services are provided as well as a full range of social activities. All of the maintenance of your unit, as well as all utilities (except telephone and cable TV) are provided.

Q: How are the residents charged for these services?
A: All of the services mentioned above are included in the monthly fee.

Q: Why not a nursing home?
A: A nursing home provides more intensive medical/nursing services and provides for those individuals with more acute medical requirements. Many seniors’ needs can be met in an assisted living community providing independence in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere.

Q: How do I know mom or dad is eating right?
A: New entrees are presented each day, and special theme dinners are a monthly highlight. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are served to residents daily. The assisted living caregivers monitor all residents’ diets, to ensure that their nutritional needs are being met.

Q: How is the program staffed?
A: The assisted living program is supervised by our full-time licensed nurse. There is a licensed nurse and/or caregiver on duty 24 hours per day.

Q: Where do residents live?
A: Residents have a choice of private apartments, private rooms or semi-private rooms. Each apartment has a private bathroom, kitchenette, individually controlled heating and air conditioning system, wall-to-wall carpeting and window covering. Brentmoor offers specially designed bathrooms and emergency alert systems. Residents are welcome to decorate their apartments or rooms as they wish.

Q: What kind of recreation is available?
A: A full calendar of social get-togethers, exercise classes, shopping trips, card games, speakers, informal parties and more is offered. We work closely with residents to provide activities of interest.

Q: Is transportation available?
A: Yes, we have scheduled transportation to shopping centers, medical offices and local points of interest. These scheduled trips are provided at no additional charge. Personal transportation can be arranged to banks and doctors’ offices with advance notice.
